본 연구의 필요성 및 목적은 현재 미국에서 성공적으로 태권도 도장을 경영하고 있는 한인 태권도 사범들을 대상으로 태권도 시범의 필요 유/무에 대한 인식을 조사하는 것이다. 조사방법 은 2014년 7월 2일부터 20일까지 7명의 한인 태권도 사범을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 유목적 표집법을 통한 심층면담을 실시하였다. 심층면담 방법 중 인터넷 면담기법을 통한 반 구조화 면담법을 사용하여 연구결과를 도출 하였다. 연구자 7명 모두 태권도 도장 경영에 있어 태권도 시범이 필요하다고 답하였으며, 그 이유는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지도자의 태권도 실기능력을 평가하는 척도이기 때문이다. 미국 태권도 수련생들은 태 권도 도장을 선택하는데 있어 가장 우선이 되는 것은 지도자의 실기능력이며, 태권도의 실기능 력을 가장 잘 보여줄 수 있는 것이 태권도 시범이다. 둘째, 태권도 도장 경영의 필수조건이다. 지역 행사나 학교축제 및 퍼레이드에서 태권도 시범 의 시연은 태권도 도장을 홍보하여 수련생들의 입관에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있으며, 태권도 도장을 경영하는데 없어서는 안 될 중요한 부분이다. 셋째, 태권도 수련에 큰 영향을 미친다. 태권도 시범 활동을 통해 뚜렷한 목표의식과 태권도 수련에 적극적으로 임하는 자세를 갖게 되고, 타 수련생들과의 차별화를 및 사회성을 배워나갈 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 결론적으로 한인 태권도 사범들은 태권도 도장을 경영하는데 있어 태권도 시범을 없어서는 안 될 중요한 부분으로 인식하고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the recognition for the need of Taekwondo demonstration by targeting Korean Taekwondo masters who are successfully operating Taekwondo studio in the United States. Research method was as follows. Seven Korean Taekwondo masters were selected as research subjects and in-depth interviews were conducted through a purposive sampling method from July 2 to July 20, 2014. The research  results were derived by using a semi-structured interview method via Internet interview techniques. All seven subjects operating Taekwondo studios answered that Taekwondo demonstration is necessary for the following reasons. First, it is a measurement of the masters' Taekwondo ability. USA Taekwondo trainees put the practical skills of a master first priority in selecting a Taekwondo studio. And the practical skills of Taekwondo can be shown well via Taekwondo demonstration. Second, it is the essential condition of Taekwondo studio management. Taekwondo demonstration at local events, school festivals and parades can advertise the Taekwondo studio, exert the greatest influence on the admissions of trainees and be an integral part of the management of Taekwondo studio. Third, it gives the significant effect to Taekwondo training. Through Taekwondo demonstration activities, trainees have clear goals and active attitudes in Taekwondo training. Also, it has advantages for them to learn discrimination from and sociality with each other. In conclusion, the masters recognize Taekwondo demonstration as an integral part for the managements of their Taekwondo studios.
